All of Soul Society and Hueco Mundo know the story of Ichigo Kurosaki -- he was just a normal boy who could see ghosts and received shinigami powers from Rukia Kuchiki. Not just that, but he surprisingly possessed an extraordinary amount of reiatsu, achieved bankai in just a few days, defeated the Soukyoku, and succeeded in rescuing a friend from Hueco Mundo, right beneath Aizen's nose.

He, Rukia, Renji, Sado, and Uryu, returned safely from Hueco Mundo with Orihime, having defeated the Espada [with a bit of Soul Society's help] and outwitted Aizen in their return. And with the rising threat of the war stifled, even if just for a matter of seven years, Ichigo was able to learn to control his Vaizard powers, and the spiritual population of Karakura graduated high school, went to college, and settled down to raise their new families. During those seven years, however, Aizen decided he wouldn't give up that easily. He built up and restored his army of Espada and Arrancar, and led the attack on Soul Society, using the fully-cultivated Hougyokou to achieve his means. The bloody battle carried over to Karakura Town, where Ichigo, Rukia, and the rest of their friends were forced to leave their newly formed families to fight in the war. Unfortunately, before they were able to be defeated, the Arrancar afflicted some casualties -- including the deaths of Ichigo, Rukia, Renji, and Sado, who vigilantly sacrificed themselves to create a barrier that would protect Soul Society and the Living Realm from Hollows and Arrancar in the future. And so, everything was all right, and the time of peace reigned once more.

But, there were still many who remembered that peace was rare and short-lived, and once it was gone, there was no going back -- you could only move forward.

Nearly fifty years later, the season of peace is still dominant. Shinigami, Quincies, Vaizards, and even some Arrancar live among humans, keeping their identities secret. But there are still those humans that can sense their presence, see them, and some that can even speak to them. In Soul Society, the divisions and squads have disbanded, seeing as there was no need for them after the sacrifice-barrier that had been made all those years ago. But that time was nothing compared to the average shinigami's life-span, and it was only a matter of time until the shield would begin to fade. That time has come now, and Hollow attacks are becoming more and more frequent.

Meanwhile, the Hollows and Arrancar are forming an army -- one even greater than their previous one -- and Soul Society is in doubt as they suspect that there's a new traitor in the newly-formed divisions. No one knows who it is yet, but many think that it is a member of the fifth division -- the same one that Aizen was in.

And thus, the time of peace is fading as many prepare for another war. Because in this world of secrets, nothing is as it seems, and there's no going back to the way things used to be. And when the price of misplaced trust may be even worse than death, will you be willing to start over?</sup></sub>
